I am going to show this video at my next faculty meeting. This reminds me a lot of The World is Flat. My county is somewhat behind in technology. This year, my leadership team decided to put all our money into technology. We bought every 3-5 teacher a laptop. We have a total of 9 Interwrite Tablets, we have ordered projecters. Currently, we are researching the best deal on document cameras. Next year fortunately, the county will allot monies to each school to use for technology. We will be ahead of the game because we invested so much this year. We will be looking at digital cameras and video recorders.
Alexander County was one of the pilot counties for the new teacher evaluation system. I had to evaluate 5 teachers on the instrument. For all of them I had to recommend that they focus on technology, 21st Century Skills and Global Awareness. We all have to. Before we really know how to focus, we have to know what we are focusing on. Next year, each of my three Vertical Teams will tackle one of these topics and present it to the rest of the staff – at least that’s my thinking so far. This short video drives home all the progress we need to make! I think I will even send it to the superintendent.
Dr. Frye,
Wow! What weird timing? I just finished my postconference with my principal a couple weeks ago for the new teacher evaluation that Mary is talking about. (I was one of the 5 lucky ones at Ellendale!) We were just discussing the 21st Century Skills and how we need to engage students, use technology, and think about how we can help students graduate. Great video! Very motivating!
Awesome, it brings tears to my eyes. I can’t wait to incorporate my kinders writing in word so I can motivate them and myself to become more technology literate. I use technology in the classroom during centers and the computers seem to be the most popular center. Thanks for the motivating and emotional clip. I needed a pick me up.

I love this video…I’m going to play it in my tech class with Dr. Koppenhaver and maybe at our next faculty meeting at school. Thanks for your comment about my I poem. I’m so glad you like it! I started off listing a bunch of facts from the book, and then I got really into it because I wanted to do the story justice and not leave anything out! Oh yeah, your blog with Dave is ADORABLE! Keep smelling the roses
